Hormuz Island
Hormuz Island located in the Strait of Hormuz, 8 km far from southern boundaries of Iran in the north of Persian Gulf. The island has been divided into ‘’new Hormuz’’ and ‘’old Hormuz’’. The name is derived from Ahuramazda or Urmazd, the great Iranian God. This Island is also called ‘’the colourful island’’ or ‘’ the rainbow island of Iran’’ because of its unique soil and its mineral content quite look wonderful and eye-catching. The island is one of the most important strategic locations of Iran. The better-known attractions of Hormuz island are Khezr beach, Hormuz beach, Hara forest or Mangrove, Portuguese castle, Zafferani plain, salt cave and etc.
