Katale Khor cave
Katale Khor cave located 165 kilometres south of Zanjan, off the Soltaniye-Hamadan road. It is one of the most famous caves in Iran. it was first discovered by a mountaineering group in 1952. Katale Khor is one of the oldest and largest caves in Iran, rated as the best in western Iran. The word ‘’Katele Khor’’, comes from the local term Katale, means small mount and Khor derived from the word ‘’Khorshid’’, which means Sun, then the whole word Katale Khor means a mount facing the sun. It seems that it is a 7-level cave but only 3 of them is fully discovered. So, 4 km of the cave is available for trained cavers and 3 km for public visitors. The cave was the residence of ancient people for many years and a lot of archaeological data discovered from it.
Chama Ice Cave
Chama Ice Cave is one of the extraordinary cave in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran. To reach the Ice Cave of Chama you have to travel 25 kilometres from the city of Chelgerd. The cave is named after the nomadic word “Chi Ma”. The Chama Ice Cave lies in the cold valley of Chama, near a spring of fresh water. When you enter this cave, even in the hot summer, you will be amazed by a large number of ice boulders. The accumulation of snow has left the area permanently frozen. Sometimes the snow in this area can reach up to 50 meters. Beneath the ice, there is a clear stream that leads to the Kouhrang Dam. Walking in this cave requires safety equipment and supplies.
Alisadr Cave Hamedan
