Hamadan is the capital of Hamadan Province in the west of Iran. The city is mentioned as Ecbatana in ancient Greek literature. The city was the capital of median dynasty (750-550 BC) and keep its importance during the historical and even modern time of Iran. The city is developed on the foothills of Alvand mountains so, it is always cold and snowy in autumn and winter but it has some very spectacular facilities for those who are interested to experience adventure in Iran. Ganj Nameh inscription, the Avicenna monument and the Baba Taher tomb are the most important touristic sites of Hamadan. The city was chosen as the capital of Asian tourism in 2018
