Kandovan Village

Kanovan (Kandovān) is a rocky village in East Azerbaijan, Iran. The village has been developed on the foothills of Sahand volcano. The main structures in the village are man-made dwellings or cliff dwellings which were created by digging hard rocks and using the natural holes in the rocks.

The village is well developed with public bath, school, mosque and mills. Kandovan is still inhabited differently from Cappadocia in turkey and Manitou Cliff Dwellings in the Us. As a traveller be alert, Kandovan is most of the time cold and covered with snow in winters. Besides the spectacular landscape and architecture, you can enjoy the hot spring near the village, traditional products, local food, healthy diary, handicrafts and many others.
