These days, when the summer holidays have begun and the heat has overwhelmed the residents of major cities, most people are planning to travel to the coldest area to escape the heat. some choose natural sights, and others prefer to visit cities. certainly, Tabriz could be the ideal summer destinations in Iran. this historical city has many cultural and natural attractions like Arg-e Alishah and El goli but you couldn’t find any other amazing structure like Tabriz Bazar historical complex. It is not even unique in Iran but in the world. This bazaar was one of the main stations on the silk road for centuries and it is the symbol of trade and dynamic economy in old Iran. Tabriz Bazaar has a great role in the Iranian Constitutional Revolution. It was inscribed as a World Heritage Site on UNESCO list in 2010. The plan of Iranian Bazaars almost follows the same methods. These massive structures are not developed vertically but horizontally, Including corridors, series of shops, mosques, water cistern and caravansaries. Tabriz Bazaar is very well known for its extent, architectural beauties, decorations and solid materials.
Tabriz Bazaar History
This is the greatest Bazaar in the world. The foundation of complex dating back to the 10th century. being on the silk road Also is another factor that has made the Tabriz market so popular. There were always some dangers threatening the structure like earthquake and fire. Annually the bazaar is used by merchants as a place to honour the ceremony of Moharram. the structure consists of several sub-bazaars like Amir Bazaar (for gold and jewellery), Mozzafarieh (a carpet bazaar), a shoe bazaar, and many other parts.
The restoration projects
A restoration project of the Bazaar began in 2000, with the full participation of the shop owners. This rehabilitation project won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2013. The Aga Khan Award is given every three years to projects that set new standards of excellence in architecture and historic preservation.
